Overview

Highway Roadmap is a tip contact that offers Tour Guide Missions in Skyway City.

Introduction

Sky Gazer

Exploration Mission

Skyway City has long been the host of numerous complaints regarding the navigational labyrinth that is the local highway system. In an attempt to combat this, the Paragon Transit Authority has begun providing roadmaps detailing all the routes to motorists, free of charge.

There is a smart phone app that does the same thing, but it has been unanimously regarded as horrible and has a 0.4/5 rating on the SuperApp store. Until the PTA catches up to the modern age, this roadmap is your best bet for finding your way around; As a bonus, the map includes local fun facts and points of interest!

  • Learn the ins and outs of Skyway City.
  • Navigate the roads another time.

Too Busy

You remember how many other tasks are waiting; Navigating anything may prove difficult while you are distracted.

No More Missions

Looking at the roadmap, you could confidently redraw the entire thing from memory. You don't foresee getting lost again any time soon.

Missions

Purifier

Briefing

After turning the map over, notice a small destination tucked into the upper-right corner of the district:
"Years ago, the threat known as the Defiler was confronted by Ms. Liberty at this basketball court. With assistance from MAGI, the evil spirit was purified."

It is quite amusing to imagine the iconic Vindicator challenging an otherworldly menace to a streetball game of H-O-R-S-E. Sounds like it is time to step onto the court.

  • Learn about Purification of the Defiler

You consider the merit of a world where disputes between good and evil are settled not on the battlefield, but on the basketball court.

Who would be on your fantasy basketball team? Numina is a tempting pick, then again, maybe spirits are bad luck historically...

Mission Objective

  • Find where Defiler was purified
Badge
Purifier / Defiler (-1086.0, -16.0, -7612.5)[Copy]

Defiler, an evil spirit brought forth by the Devouring Earth, was defeated on this spot by Ms. Liberty... with a little help from MAGI.

Solace

Briefing

A note to the side of the western road mentions a fun-fact regarding a former secret lab. The lab's mastermind once used a nuclear bomb to threaten the entire city with total annihilation.

Wow, that fact was not very fun... The idea of getting blown to smithereens before you could even react seems kind of unfair, if somebody wants to take a $class like you down, they should have to earn it! Now you are all worked-up, maybe checking out where this lab was will help you calm down?

  • Take Solace in the area's safety.

It is good that this nuke-using chump was taken down. While it is a given that villains are going to use underhanded tactics, where is the satisfaction in taking shortcuts?

You hope your hypothetical arch-nemesis challenges you with panache and style.

Mission Objective

  • Confirm former secret lab site
Badge
Solace (2260.0, -84.0, -3365.5)[Copy]

This was the location of Dr. Anguish's secret lab, uncovered by the Freedom Phalanx when he threatened to blow up Paragon City with a black market Soviet nuke.

Dauntless

Briefing

The roadmap has a small note dedicated to remembering a Robbie Prescott:
"The honorable sidekick of Galaxy Girl made the ultimate sacrifice in her defense."

A memorial statue was erected in his honor. Walking beneath it is a local cultural practice done to pay respects to those whose bravery cost them everything. Feeling a grateful melancholy hovering about, you decide make this pilgrimage yourself.

  • Honor Dauntless sacrifices.

Anyone in this career has to wonder if there is a purpose for which they would lay down their life. It is a solemn thought, and a question you doubt can be premeditated. When the moment came, those who made the ultimate sacrifice knew what their answer was.

You will just have to see what your future holds.

Mission Objective

  • Pay respects to sidekick memorial
Badge
Dauntless (-705.5, -0.0, -1076.0)[Copy]

Dauntless was Galaxy Girl's sidekick until he died in battle, defending his mentor with his last breath.

Healing Node

Briefing

The roadmap has a large notice regarding a certain landmark near the south-end of Skyway City:
"This location is the central node for Paragon City's MediCom system; This pylon was configured with assistance from the late Dr. Dibaryon in collaboration with Medi-Corp. Responsible for coordinating the crucial Medi-Porter system that rescues critically-injured heroes, the loss of this node could prove catastrophic for the city's security."

Familiarizing yourself with this pylon's vulnerabilities would be worth your while, the Medi-Porter system is one you rely on too. Suddenly meeting your end because somebody knocked this node offline would be something you would rather avoid.

  • Check on the central Healing Node.

This makes you realize how reliant everyone in this career is on the MediCom system.

You always rush head-first into danger knowing that if things take a turn for the worst, you will just have a small bit of debt to the hospital. Maybe being a little more cautious would be a good long-term health care plan.

Mission Objective

  • Inspect the MediCom's central node
Badge
Healing Node (1578.0, -84.0, -677.5)[Copy]

The MediCom is the teleportation network that can send fallen heroes directly to the hospital for treatment. This node is the center of the network; the other nodes are on the outskirts of the city.

Better Days

Briefing

The man formerly known as Red Tiger has become somewhat of a local celebrity. Opting into an early retirement due to losing a leg to the Clockwork King; Jake Montoya now regularly hangs out by a statue erected in his honor.

While it sounds like the man is still quite involved in the hero-work machine, you must wonder if literally standing in the shadow of your former glory would start to wear on your psyche... The question bids you check the situation out and see the man himself.

  • Consider the meaning of Better Days.

If you were to be crippled and unable to continue being the Archetype that you are, what could you do instead?

You do love your current line of work, but perhaps expanding the scope of possibilities would be an endeavor worth undertaking.

Mission Objective

  • Visit statue and contemplate possibilities
Badge
Better Days (2118.0, 28.6, -2378.0)[Copy]

This statue of the Red Tiger, aka Jake Montoya, was erected after he lost his leg fighting the Clockwork King. Hero Corps supplied Jake with a prosthetic limb afterwards, but he would never be able to fight crime again. Some of his friends worry that Jake spends too much time around this statue, obsessing over his better days.

Room for Expansion

Briefing

There's a small ad for an online petition located by the Faultline tunnel icon on the roadmap:
"Help with a signature today to relocate the Longbow garrison! Support the development of local growth!"

Seems like local civilians are not happy with the Longbow helipad facility. While you find access the to their transportation network quite handy, you can see why the residents might want the Longbow soldiers and their loud helicopter gone. How much room they would even reclaim if Longbow vacated?

  • Confirm if there is Room for Expansion.

It is certain that Longbow's typical cavalier attitude is not helping with the tensions developing (or not developing as it currently stands).

While you are not going to weigh-in on either side, if things escalate it would be a good locale to know.

Mission Objective

  • See Longbow station preventing expansion
Badge
Room for Expansion (687.0, 0.3, -141.0)[Copy]

With Faultline gaining traffic, many people are calling for more apartments to be built in this area and for Longbow to move their Bloody Bay heli-pad to another location. Longbow refuses however, stating this is the safest place for them to be, and that they are also keeping the Lost of the area in check.

Left Behind

Briefing

The roadmap's overview of a local park states:
"When Red Tiger was forced to step down after injuries sustained from the Clockwork King, the effects resonated. Hide Park's iconic sparring training came to an end."

There is a tightness in your chest. That visceral feeling of permanence is one you never like to experience, as more often than not, it is the oppressive melancholy of what was. Despite this, seeing these examples serve to anchor the consequences of the world you live in.

  • See the area that was Left Behind.

There is always something to be said for a flame that sparks passion and imagination, but all too often it is the cold emptiness left in its place that endures.

Some things can never be truly replaced, and the lost warmth is the only legacy to remember it by.

Mission Objective

  • Walk through former training grounds
Badge
Left Behind (-1216.5, 3.5, -2368.0)[Copy]

Before the Rikti War, the Red Tiger, Jake Montoya, used this area to train fellow heroes. The people of Paragon would gather on the weekends to watch the exciting 'Hide Park Sparring Sessions'. After his mandatory retirement, the sparring sessions stopped all together.

Bridge to Nowhere

Briefing

Tracing along the roads on the map, you notice a peculiarity. This one spot of the highway does not connect on either end. Maybe this roadmap is outdated?

You briefly consider trying the smartphone app again, but after recalling its performance, you are struck with an immense fear that would make any villain jealous. You will just have to see what's what with this weird nowhere road yourself.

  • See the Bridge to Nowhere.

You imagine a literal path to "nowhere" would likely be some kind of abysmal temporal horror; The sort where one could fall in by mistake and spend an eternity plummeting through bleak nothingness.

Suddenly, there is an unexpected anxiety creeping into your mind.

Mission Objective

  • Find the bridge that leads nowhere
Badge
Bridge to Nowhere (251.0, -12.5, -3643.5)[Copy]

The construction of Skyway's next set of bridges was halted by the first Rikti War and remains on hold. Citizens walking nearby constantly look at this bridge with some fear, noticing that its foundations grow weaker by the day. It may be only a matter of time until this bridge collapses.
