Overview

District Business Directory is a tip contact that offers Tour Guide Missions in Steel Canyon.

Introduction

Canyon Carver

Exploration Mission

These bulky catalogues detail all the local businesses currently operating out of Steel Canyon and their addresses. Maintained by Paragon City, the print date on the back shows that it is the current year's edition.

Finding one of these in the hands of villains like you did, generally implies they are scoping out potential marks for future crimes. Integrating these directories' hotspots into your patrol routine could yield some worthwhile results.

  • Scope out Steel Canyon's prospects.
  • Take care of other business.

Too Busy

With the sizeable list of tasks on your plate right now, you are likely to forget any details of new information.

Missions

Secret Admirer

Briefing

While looking through the directory, the name of an apartment complex stands out: Blue King Studio Apartments.

You recall a pair of famous heroes who lived there, but their names are escaping you right now. Frustrated by the inability to recall, you decide to go inspect the building to see if it helps jog your memory.

  • Recall being a Secret Admirer.

Argh! Their names are on the tip of your tongue... A certain green-haired woman and her blue and red clad roommate? This is infuriating.

Looks like you will just have to go visit that apartment complex.

Mission Objective

  • Visit Blue King Studio Apartments

Before becoming guardian of Croatoa, War Witch shared an apartment here with her roommate Apex.

Hero Corps Recruit

Briefing

While reviewing the corporations operating in Steel Canyon, one stands out you definitely recognize: Hero Corps. Looking over their information in the directory; You notice that while their headquarters is in the Fools Gold district, their contact address is the Steel Canyon Medical Center?

While not wanting a crowd outside your HQ makes sense, coordinating contracts out of a hospital seems...morose. Either way, it might be worth the time to see if they have any jobs for a Archetype like yourself.

  • See if Hero Corps has any work.

The Steel Canyon Medical Center is the only hospital operating in this area, so it should not be hard to find. You are curious how working for Hero Corps might be different from other types of jobs you have taken.

Mission Objective

  • Meet with Hero Corps at hospital
Badge

Hero Corps is not only a Corps of people, but also a Corporation, selling their super-powered services to those willing to foot the bill.

Nimble Mynx

Briefing

Upon looking through the directory you read some notes scribbled on the map: "Mynx discovered here by Synapse after escape from a reported Crey facility. Investigate local businesses for potential Crey shell corporations."

You're not sure who wrote this note, but somebody suspects a local Steel Canyon business may be a front for a Crey Industries laboratory. You should familiarize yourself with the locale this map mentioned as a precaution.

  • See where Synapse found the Nimble Mynx.

The idea of Crey secretly at work nearby would make anyone uncomfortable. At the very least, if you are aware of where Mynx was discovered, you can keep an eye on the businesses nearby for any shady-looking scientists.

Mission Objective

  • Note spot where Mynx was discovered
Badge

This spot is where Synapse first found Mynx and began training her.

Bright Star

Briefing

While maybe not technically a business, in the same sense as other entries; the Paragon City University is also listed as a Rikti War historical location. This catches your eye, and you try to find some more information on the topic.

You do some digging through the contents of the directory but cannot seem to find anything further. Not one to let a question go unanswered, time to just go check out the university yourself.

  • See what makes the university a Bright Star

Imagination takes the wheel for a bit.

Perhaps the university was the site of an experimental Rikti device deployment? Maybe the invaders utilized a new bio-weapon? It is an exciting question!

Mission Objective

  • Learn history at the university

The first Luminary used her light-based powers to disrupt the formation of a large portal to the Rikti homeworld on this spot.

Dance Legend

Briefing

An old flyer that was being used as a bookmark falls out when you open the directory; You pick the paper up and recognize the name on it immediately: The Paragon Dance Party. This proto-club was run by DJ Zero, the man behind the current inter-dimensional place-to-be, Pocket D.

Similarly, the dance party was accessed via a handful of doors linked by DJ Zero's ability to bend space. The flyer lists an address for one such doorway; Is that gateway still active? If nothing else, some dimensional doors could be handy in a pinch.

  • See the origins of a Dance Legend.

With how popular Pocket D has become over the years, you almost forgot about the time before.

Now would be when you comment that it was a simpler time, but nothing is simple when you are talking about dimensional spaces dedicated to powered individuals getting their groove on.

Mission Objective

  • Check on Paragon Dance Party doorway

Paragon Dance Party was a popular place for local heroes to go relax and have a good time. However, its popularity was almost instantly eclipsed when Pocket D was opened by the Dance Party's owner, DJ Zero. The Dance Party now has an almost underground vibe.

Controversial

Briefing

A section in the directory mentions businesses that are no longer operating in the area, with new addresses/contact points if applicable. The name of a firm you recognize was delisted, with no new address; You recall seeing said firm mentioned in regard to a controversy surrounding a hero statue erected near the northeast corner of the district.

While local tabloids are not usually on your radar, the report regarding the statue's architect stood out. Time for an answer on why this statue warranted all that publicity.

  • Take a look at the Controversial statue.

You ponder how you might react if somebody immortalized and simultaneously butchered your likeness. Certainly, it wouldn't warrant any retribution, or would it?

Perhaps you will find the answer in seeing this statue for yourself.

Mission Objective

  • Witness the source of the controversy
Badge
Controversial (-4605.5, 3.1, -2599.5)[Copy]

The statue of the heroine, "The Night Hammer" has been the focus of two controversies. The first was Night Hammer's disgust at how the statue turned out. The second was the "mysterious" disappearance of the architect who designed the statue.

Pet Project

Briefing

There is a page folded in the directory with a name underlined on it: Paragon City Construction. You recall there was an on-going project under their supervision in the northeast corner of Steel Canyon.

There have been some rather particular rumors surrounding the construction work as well. Perhaps you should go check it out, just in case.

  • See the mysterious Pet Project.

One of the more outlandish ideas suggested this project was to be a rocket platform to facilitate travel to outer space.

Is is quite amusing, the things the rumor mill buys into are just too much some days.

Mission Objective

  • Investigate mysterious construction project
Badge
Pet Project (-4072.5, -0.0, -3296.5)[Copy]

Officials in Steel Canyon have kept secret what exactly they've been working on here. There have been many speculations as to what it could be. One of the crazier theories is that there is no true "purpose" to the construction - that all of this somehow just appeared one day and exists solely to distract the heroes of Paragon City.

Dirty Attorney

Briefing

A particular name catches your eye while flipping through the directory, that law firm with the tacky billboards: Chris Jenkins. While power-related lawsuits are a big business here in Paragon City, you recall this attorney's style was quite distasteful. His contact info simply says: "Come see me on Platinum Lake, champ!"

You are not sure why, but you feel like if you don't go, you are somehow losing to this advertisement.

  • Confront the Dirty Attorney.

It is a bit silly, thinking about it like this, but sometimes these kinds of nonsensical indulgences are necessary to keep a mental state keen in your line of work.

It is important to take care of oneself, physically and mentally.

Mission Objective

  • Challenge the annoying advertisement
Badge
Dirty Attorney (-2170.0, -84.0, -1227.5)[Copy]

Platinum Lake is a popular spot for people in Paragon to sit back and relax. There has been a long legal battle for Chris Jenkins to take down the billboard that he put up there, many saying it spoils the view. Jenkins has won every single case and states that he only has it up to serve the people when the heroes of Paragon 'aren't doing their jobs.'
